FAQS

• How far away are we from Leura shops/restaurants? Is it walking distance?

As with many of the accommodation houses we are a nice 10 – 15 minute walk (just over 1 km or 0.6 miles) from all the lovely shopping and dining in Leura. As we are in the mountains there is a bit of an uphill walk to the village but a lovely downhill stroll coming home!! If you prefer the taxi service is excellent and inexpensive.

• How far away are we from Leura train station? How do we get to you from the train station?

The train station is just before the shopping area of the village so the above answer is exactly the same! The taxi stand is immediately beside the train exit/entrance.

• Can Old Leura Dairy pick us up from the train station?

As we are not a hotel but a group of cottages we are not staffed as a hotel would be. It is not possible for us to pick our guests up from the train but the taxi service is excellent and inexpensive for the short distance to the property. We have many guests that choose to walk from the station as it is a nice introduction to the area.

• How do you get around without a car / is it easy to get around without a car?

There are many options available for our guests without their own cars. Guided tours (which we highly recommend!) will pick you up from Old Leura Dairy, the village is an easy walk, and there are several bus services that offer a hop on/hop off system so you are able to stop at as many of the attractions as you desire. We are able to organize this for you, please just let us know. Of course, the train service will take you up and down the mountains if you wish to go further afield.

• Can we check in / arrive after hours?

We love to meet our guests on their arrival; it is our favourite part of what we do! However if your arrival time is outside of office hours you will receive instructions as to how to access your cottage. We are always available by phone if you have any queries at all.

• Are bed linen and towels supplied?

We have beautiful bed linen with feather doonas and all your bath sheets and towels ready and waiting for you. As well we provide our own handmade essential oil bath and body products. These are so popular our guests have asked us to make them available for purchase, and so we have!!

• What facilities and kitchen supplies are provided?

All properties feature tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, washer and dryer access, heating, TV, DVD and CD player, and iPod dock. The kitchen is stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper as well as kitchen necessities such as dishwashing detergent, paper towel, cling wrap, aluminium foil, and serviettes.

• Can you recommend any restaurants in the area?

The Blue Mountains is renowned for wonderful food; it is the slow food capital! We have fine dining, cafe style as well as specialty style dining. Please have a look at our links page for many of the offerings in the area. As not all of the eateries have websites and if you are after something in particular do not hesitate to contact us for further options.

• Can we check in early or depart late?

As we have departing and arriving guests on either side of your booking we need an appropriate amount of time to clean the properties to our high standards to make them ready for our other guests just as we do for you! When possible we are happy to accommodate your request but this can only be confirmed just prior to your arrival due to last minute bookings.

• Do you have wifi access at Old Leura Dairy and how much does it cost?

We are happy to provide free wifi access to our holiday guests. Please note however that due to the nature of our mountains location reliability of service is occasionally compromised.

• Is breakfast included in the tariff?

A gourmet, continental breakfast basket is available as an optional extra at a cost $30.00 per person per breakfast and it includes locally made muesli, jam, organic bread, fresh fruit, fruit juice and organic yoghurt and milk.

• What activities and experiences are available in the mountains?

There is something for everyone in the mountains. Adventure, experiential, and sightseeing activities are all available with professional guides and we do highly recommend you consider this option. Our staff have all experienced these services and can testify to the added value and enjoyment that this offers. “Do it yourself” options are also obviously available and we can consult with you on these as well. Pampering, festivals, shopping and dining are plentiful as well and, once again, our staff would be pleased to consult with you on the best options for your stay.
